Samsung Galaxy S2, S3 (GS3), moving/importing contacts from Nokia E71

I am updating this post based on the comments received. Thanks for the step by step instructions, tips, urls and for your wishes :)

Confirmed (by posters) to be working for the following Nokia series phones,

Nokia E71, E61, E5, Nokia Xpress Music.

1. Establish Bluetooth Connection between the 2 phones (here, GS2/GS3 and E71). Make sure that the Bluetooth network is not hidden. After connecting, you should be able see GS2/GS3 from E71.

2. From the Nokia phone, navigate to Menu > Contacts > Options > Mark/Unmark > Mark all

3. Select 'Options' at the Contact Menu. 'Send business card' > 'Via Bluetooth'. Select your Galaxy's Bluetooth network name.

4. Sit back and relax. The contacts will be synced nicely.

5. From GS2/GS3, open contacts, go to options and select the option to merge with Google. This will synchronize your contacts with Google (provided you have already signed up using a Google account and setup a sync with Google). The contacts will appear under Google's My Contacts.

Another option (thanks to ritchmeister):   connect to Mac with Bluetooth. Browse E71. Get all the contacts (*.vsf) from the sd card. Save in a folder on Mac. Drag the .vsf files into Address Book. Open Kies and sync with Address Book

Hi Jay,

Nice post! This works the same for exporting Nokia Xpress Music phone contacts to Samsung Galaxy Mini!

1. Establish Bluetooth Connection between the 2 phones. Make sure that the bluetooth network is not hidden.

Also. it is nice to know that your contact names will look quite the same like the nokia. This means that there will not be repeated names of the same person but different numbers(home, mobile, office). It just works !

Thanks very much! saved me a great deal of time faffing around, figuring how to transfer all my contacts from my E5 to SGS2.

When I do a 'Mark all' in Nokia E71 then I do not get an option for 'Send Business Card'. This option seems to be available only when I selecet individual conacts and not the whole phone book.

The 'Send Business Card' option does not seem to be available in Nokia when I do 'Mark all'. Can you pls. suggest a way out?

If you can't see the option to send business cards, hold your finger on any of your selected contacts long enough to summon pop up menu...

Thank you so much!!!!

Good to know that the post was useful for you guys!

And don't forget, when you create new contacts, select the option to store the contacts in Google, otherwise the new contacts will not be in sync with Google. I made this mistake :p

My friend got a Galaxy Ace. I could not see an option "merge with Google" in this phone. One of my friend is using the application "Go Contacts". If any of you have any tips, please share.

I have had same problem as an earlier post ... once all contacts in Nokia (Musix Xpress) have been marked, the "send as business card" option does not appear. Only "delete, move or copy". I can send business card only for individual contacts. Sooh annoying!

Anonymous said...

Did anyone respond to this? I'd love to know the answer.

Jay said...

One option may be is to sync through outlook or through google calendar.

Anonymous said...

But can't we send business card via bluetooth from GS2 to any phone?

Jay said...

If you press and hold the contact that you want to send, there will be an option, "send business card as", select this and there will be another menu to select "bluetooth".

willow said...

please help me then as i do not get the send via bluetooth option-same phones in both cases

For E71 my solution was to connect to my Mac with Bluetooth. Browse my E71. Get all the contacts (*.vsf) from my sd card. Save in a folder on my Mac. Drag the .vsf files into Address Book. Open Kies and sync with Address Book
